Tips

The right place for your scratching post

For your cat to quickly accept the scratching post, the right location is crucial.

Choose a place where your cat likes to spend time:

  • in rooms with a lot of activity (e.g., living room)
  • along their usual paths
  • near sleeping or eating areas

Important: Does your cat already have scratching options?
Then deliberately place the scratching post in an area where there isn't one yet.

We recommend changing the location of mobile cat furniture from time to time to find out where your cat most prefers to groom its claws.

7 CAT LIVES ARE TOO SHORT FOR OVERLY LONG CLAWS

Large scratching area for claw care

The scratching posts feature generous scratching surfaces made from sisal, a natural and robust material that is ideal for maintaining your cat's claws. The rough surface allows your cat to sharpen and hone their claws.

Thanks to the large scratching areas, cats can indulge in intensive claw care.

Sturdy construction

We use solid wood, which makes our scratching posts robust and stable.

They are designed to withstand intensive claw care. Your cat can really let loose when sharpening their claws.

Stress relief for cats

Scratching on a scratching post allows cats to relieve stress.

Scratching releases endorphins, which can lead to a feeling of relaxation and well-being.

This is particularly important for indoor cats who may have fewer opportunities to express their natural instincts.

Muscle strengthening

Scratching on a scratching post requires physical activity and strengthens the cat's muscles, especially in the legs and shoulders.

This can help improve the cat's fitness and mobility.

Functionality meets aesthetics

Our scratching post impresses with its minimalist designand high-quality workmanship. The combination of modern design and natural materials convinces with its visual lightness.

Light wood, functional, simple shapes, and subtle sisal colors ensure that the scratching post adds an extra portion of warmth and coziness to your home.

For the scratching post, we use wood & sisal, so your cat gets a product that is as close as possible to its natural habitat.

The high-quality birch multiplex plywood- manufactured in Finland according to strict sustainability principles - perfectly emphasizes the understated style of our cat furniture. The edges, with their decorative grain of the individual wood layers, create a unique contrast to the white surfaces.
This allows our straightforward, simple design with its clear formsto really shine.

Protection for wallpaper, furniture, carpets and walls

A scratching post offers cats an alternative scratching surface and can thus prevent them from sharpening their claws on furniture, carpets or other undesirable places. This prevents damage to furnishings.

Questions about the Scratching Post Route Markers

Is there a showroom where I can see the cat furniture?

Yes. In Berlin-Weißensee you can view our cat furniture and convince yourself of the quality of the workmanship and the materials used.

You don't want to buy a pig in a poke?

We are happy to advise you on site and support you in finding cat furniture that perfectly suits you & your cat and fits into your home.

Come by - we look forward to seeing you!

How do I get my cat used to a new scratching post?

An effective way to get your cat used to the new scratching post is to actively integrate it into your shared playtime. This way, your cat will intuitively learn what the post is for and how well their claws can be sharpened on it.

For example, use a fishing rod toy and move it specifically around or directly along the post. This encourages your cat to playfully explore the scratching post and work on it with their paws.

What is the right height for a scratching post?

The correct length of a scratching post is crucial for your cat to truly enjoy using it. Cats want to be able to stretch completely when scratching – this is a natural need and important for their claw care and musculature.

Therefore: The larger the cat, the longer the scratching post should be.

We offer two different lengths so you can choose the right post for your cat:

  • Shorter version:Ideal for smaller cats or kittens
  • Longer version:Perfect for larger cats or those who want to stretch out completely when scratching

Where is the best place for a scratching post?

The location plays a crucial role in whether your cat accepts or ignores the scratching post. Cats don't just scratch anywhere – they deliberately choose places that are important to them.

It's best to place the scratching post:

  • near favorite spotslike the sofa, window, or sleeping area
  • in places where your cat already scratches
  • in busy living areaswhere a lot of daily life happens

Less suitable are secluded corners or rooms that your cat rarely uses.

What happens if the sisal wears out?

The stem is exchangeable. You can easily switch it out.

Is the product sustainable?

Yes! Replaceable wearing parts, durable materials, handmade in Berlin, plastic-free shipping – this is how you protect the environment and resources.

How does shipping work?

We pack and cushion our products with paper and cardboard - we don't use plastic in our boxes. Speaking of boxes - to ensure your cat furniture arrives safely, we use extra sturdy and secure packaging.

We ship with DPD.

We recommend choosing the free DPD Predict service - this way, DPD will actively keep you updated on the status of your shipment.

Why do cats sharpen their claws?

Claw Care & Scent Marking

Your cat sharpens her claws to keep them in shape and control their length - when sharpening, they are cleaned and sharpened. Worn claw sheaths are shed.

When sharpening her claws, your cat also leaves messages such as Attention! I'm here! Scent compounds are released from the paw pads during scratching.

In nature, cats prefer to use vertical objects like tree trunks for territory marking. They stretch as far as possible to leave their marks high above other markings.

By scratching on a scratching board, they can leave their scent and mark their territory. This helps to create a sense of security and personal space.

Even outdoor cats need scratching opportunities within their homes so they can mark their indoor territory and still have a way to groom their claws when they prefer to stay indoors, for example, due to bad weather.
